BRONWYN KOLL: Agribusiness Yarra Valley
Bronwyn Koll (B.App. Sci – Agriculture 2001, Grad. Cert. Biosecurity 2021) is the Regional Coordinator for the Yarra Valley’s Queensland Fruit Fly Awareness and Prevention Project (Victoria’s Fruit Fly Management Strategy 2021-2015). Her role focuses on engaging community, government organisations and commercial fruit growers in the Area Wide Management (AWM) approach to prevent the establishment of Queensland Fruit Fly (QFF) in the region.
Bronwyn has developed resources and strategies to raise the community’s awareness of QFF risk and educate people about prevention and management techniques. One of Bronwyn’s key achievements has been the development of a regional QFF surveillance program and the provision of informative and timely QFF alerts to fruit producers to promote prophylactic actions by each landholder.
She also leads the volunteer emergency responses in the wider community to minimise the impact of QFF once detected. Bronwyn is an advocate of the importance of the AWM for QFF, and is dedicated supporting all regional stakeholders to help them each incorporate suitable QFF best management practices in their fruit production or fruit handling systems.
