RB21000: Lessons for Conservation Biological Control in Raspberries
Tasmanian trials tested whether mixed-species flowering strips could increase beneficial insects and improve natural pest suppression in commercial raspberries. Despite abundant flowers, researchers found no measurable increase in predators or parasitoids in adjacent crops. The findings highlight why successful conservation biological control depends on understanding the whole production system, not simply adding flowers.
