Australian Weeds Strategy 2017–2027

Weeds cause significant economic, environmental and social impacts across Australia, threatening agriculture, natural landscapes, waterways and coasts. Their persistence and ability to spread across jurisdictions require a nationally coordinated response. The Australian Weeds Strategy provides national guidance on best practice weed management, focusing on prevention, early intervention and reducing impacts of established weeds. It clarifies roles and priorities for governments, industry, landholders, NRM agencies and communities, ensuring consistent and effective action nationwide. By highlighting areas where collaboration delivers the greatest benefits, the strategy builds capacity, strengthens commitment and supports oversight by the Invasive Plants and Animals Committee (IPAC).
