The Rubus Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Project is a $2.4 million initiative focused on improving pest management in raspberry and blackberry crops across Australia. Led by the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture in collaboration with multiple agencies, the project integrates monitoring, biological control, pheromones, and trap cropping to reduce chemical dependence. Research trials include conservation biocontrol, pheromone trapping, and the use of biological agents like parasitic wasps. Studies also investigate green vegetable bug pheromones, crop mirid impact thresholds, and biocontrol distribution mapping. The project aims to develop sustainable, region-specific pest control solutions for berry growers.
