A guide to Australian crop pollinating insects
This report highlights the vital role of pollinators in Australian fruit, nut and seed crops, emphasising not only European honey bees but also over 1600 native bee species and a wide range of other insects such as flies, butterflies, moths and beetles. It explains the nesting and feeding needs of native bees, notes that most are wild rather than managed, and stresses the importance of providing habitats and conducting further research to better understand and support the diverse insects contributing to crop pollination. This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment as part of its Rural R&D for Profit program.
