Berries Australia International Market Tour – Register before 18 May

Date: 2nd May 2023

Berries Australia is organising an educational International Market Tour designed to provide an introduction to trade. We are focused on providing learning experiences rather than commercial business meetings.

Current exporting experience is not necessary; the tour is intended to give participants first-hand opportunities to see, hear, and taste how some of the most dynamic international markets operate.

Berries Australia’s objective is to increase trade-literacy within the industry. Ideal candidates would be growers considering supplying fruit for export, growers who currently supply fruit for export, or young industry leaders who will benefit from understanding the importance of trade even if they are not participants themselves.

The tour will include Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai and take place from 3 – 9 September 2023. All growers, packers and exporters are invited to take part.

Program highlights will include:

  • Government briefings in each market
  • Retail store visits in each market
  • Networking events in each market
  • Attendance at the first day of Asia Fruit Logistica trade show

Berries Australia will organise and cover the cost associated with:

  • Preparing the itinerary
  • Networking events
  • Ground transport
  • Interpreters
  • Delegation dinner in each city
  • One-day ticket to Asia Fruit Logistica

Participants will need to organise and cover the costs associated with:

  • Airfares (Australia – Singapore – Hong Kong – Dubai – Australia)
  • Airport transfers
  • Accommodation in each city
  • Majority of meals
  • Personal sightseeing

Participants are welcome to extend their travel at their own cost (arrive earlier or stay later).

Berries Australia will offer 6 x partially funded positions to participate in the tour. Positions will be awarded through a formal EOI and each recipient will receive $2500 towards participation in the tour. Applicants will be required to co-fund their visit by covering their additional costs.

To apply for the partially funded EOI positions or simply to register your interest in taking part, please contact Jenny Van de Meeberg at export@berries.net.au before COB Thursday 18th May.

This initiative is being organised in association with Austrade, through assistance provided by the Agriculture Trade and Market Access Cooperation (ATMAC) grants.
