Current SAI Board

The Board of Strawberries Australia Inc. currently consists of 8 members. There are four Office Holders and four Board Members.  All Office Holders have agreed to hold their positions for a mimum of two years to provide continuity within the organisation.

Simon Dornauf

CHAIRMAN

The Dornauf family has been farming in the Meander Valley just north of Launceston for three generations. Their life in berries began 30 years ago, when Simon’s father, Robin, began growing raspberries for both domestic and export markets.

Simon is the Director and Farm Manager of the current family farm, Hillwood Berries in the Tamar Valley. They grow all four of the major berry types; Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries & Blueberries.

DEPUTY CHAIRMAN

Jamie Michael founded Ti Produce Marketing with Lam Ti Muir in 2003 after they recognised a need for a specialised strawberry export company based in Western Australia.

Ti Produce largely handles Western Australian winter strawberries. They source fruit from their grower base of approximately 20 growers in the Wanneroo/Carabooda area with a combined planting of approximately 7 million plants.

SECRETARY

Miffy is a Horticulturist by qualification and started her professional career as Communications Manager at Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria - a large horticultural, member-based organisation, with a very similar Federated structure that SAI currently operates under.

She has spent a large amount of time working in communications and business development within the horticultural sector, including as the Executive Officer of the Victorian Strawberry Industry Development Committee, giving her insight into the structure and needs of the strawberry industry. Miffy is currently working with a group of growers (AusBerry Farmers) as their General Manager. AusBerry Farmers is now also a commercial grower of fruit in their own right.

Miffy has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course for Company Directors, and received a Hort Innovation scholarship to undertake an Advanced Women in Leadership course in 2019, and is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute back to the industry.

Adrian and his wife Mandy operate a multi-crop farm at Wamuran in south-east Queensland. Adrian Schultz is a qualified horticulturist with over 30 years’ experience. He is passionate about fusion farming as a way to bridge the gap between organic applications and traditional practices. He cares about the quality and taste of fruit produced on his farm and more broadly, Australia-wide.
